Special transport

Extracorporeal techniques

Tyrol Air Ambulance regularly transports patients with assist devices such as implanted Berlin Heart, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) or heart-lung machine (HLM).

Intensive care specialists, intensive care nurses and perfusionists - an experienced team of experts is the best guarantee for the safe transport of critically ill patients also requiring machine organ replacement therapy. Our entire medical team has several years of clinical experience at one of the intensive care departments at the University Hospital of Innsbruck. All nursing staff have completed special intensive care training.

Transport of adipose (bariatric) patients

Tyrol Air Ambulance specialises in transporting massively adipose (bariatric) patients.

An extra wide hatch provides smooth access for highly adipose patients. Specially developed double-berth stretchers provide the appropriate comfort. Special equipment is used to ensure that quality of intensive care is not compromised, for example an XXL blood pressure cuff, a scoop stretcher with a maximum weight capacity of 380 kg and if necessary an XXL NIV respiratory mask. Patients, equipment and the team are well accommodated in a Dornier 328 ambulance aircraft.

Organ transport

We regularly transport organs for transplantation patients on behalf of leading university clinics.
